DEMERARY and ESSEQUEBO, Thursday, March 20, 1817.

[No. 1042.

A report being in circulation, that a contagious disorder was on board the Alert, just arrived from Barbados, we have authority to state, that His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor immediately ordered a Medical Survey. Although it is not considered that there existed a positive danger, yet, as a measure of precaution, and for the satisfaction of the Public, His Excellency has ordered the vessel to hoist a yellow flag, under the guns of the fort, whence she will not be permitted to depart, until properly cleansed.

The brig Mariner, for Boston, sails this evening; and the Dolphin, for New-York, in the course of a few days.
