CMS Register of Missionaries and Native Clergy 1804-1904. Entry 408, Eugene C Van Cooten, of Holland. Surgeon, in which capacity he visited Demerara. 1847 at Church Missionary College, 1850 Jan 9 to Badagry, Yoruba Mission. 1851 March 13 died at Badagry. Service 1 1/4 years. Married Emily Primrose who died at Badagry May 14 1850.
ESG says Rev Eugene Van Cooten died on the West Coast of Africa. Was a minister of the Church of England. [14, 15]

No record is found in the transcript of the Baptism Register for St Woolos 1769-1837 of any Van Cooten births, nor in the Burial Register for St Woolos 1769-1843 of any Van Cooten burials.
